MaxPhenolic Resin Laboratory Grade shelving units are thermo fused composite panels that are formed under high heat and pressure to form a solid black core chemical resistant panel. Through its entire thickness, a strong, chemical resistant, hard rugged surface offers exceptional impact and abrasion resistance with structural integrity, over long spans of shelves.
Architects and Lab Consultants have determined that Max Solid Phenolic Laboratory Shelving should be used in lieu of thin laminate over particle board or heavier and expensive epoxy resin shelves. As a modern movement and style, most architects today list solid phenolic shelving specifications in Lab Equipment or Lab Furniture, in sections 11600 & 12345:
"A. Laboratory Shelving: Provide MaxPhenolic laboratory grade shelving, where indicated on drawings, in 3/4" (19 mm) or 1" (25 mm) as industry standard".
MaxPhenolic resin shelves feature exceptional chemical and stain resistance. Solid composite panels come with a black phenolic compressed core, require no PVC edge banding, are not laminated, have no wood core, while offering excellent screw-holding capability for mechanical attachment to K&V partition hardware, brackets and other supports. MaxPhenolic uses 100% recycled wood/paper fibers to create kraft paper that is impregnated with a phenol blend. It has a double hardened, double cured integrated surface (top and bottom) of polyurethane acrylic - affording excellent heat resistance, abrasion resistance, clean ability and chemical resistance. It is produced under high heat and high pressure essentially making it a phenolic compact high pressure laminate.
Max Compact Interior uses the same kraft paper based core that is 100% recycled and impregnated with a phenol blend. However, instead of the polyurethane surface technology - melamine technology is used for the surface (top and bottom).
Wall shelving is available in multiple lengths and depths with standards and brackets available from Knape & Vogt.
